This is Panini's premium tier release from the 2021-22 NBA season, landing right in the sweet spot between base-heavy products and ultra-premium boxes. You're getting a clean design with heavy use of foil and acetate that pops in hand. The rookie class here is solid but not historic, though LaMelo Ball continues to be the biggest pull across Select products. Scottie Barnes, Jalen Green, and Paolo Banchero (2022 refresh) are chase rookies depending on which series you hit. The base cards look good with multiple color variations, but the real draw is the parallel ecosystem and insert sets that make each box feel different. Select is built around chase parallels. Tier 1 stuff like Prizm and Tie-Dye prints show up regularly in packs, but you're really hunting Concourse parallels and the rare Signatures insert set for autographs. Concourse comes in multiple color tiers, with the deeper colors being significantly tougher pulls. If you're cracking hobby boxes, you typically see one hit per box, sometimes autographed. Retail boxes exist but offer thinner pack configurations and lower-tier parallels. The Courtside insert set is another secondary chase, focusing on special photography and design. Print runs on the rarest parallels are tight enough to keep prices reasonable on singles, but not so tight that you're guaranteed anything special in a box. This one is better for buying singles unless you're chasing Signatures hits. The ROI on hobby boxes can swing wildly depending on who you pull. Collectors who love the Panini aesthetic and want something between Donruss and Prizm in terms of rarity will appreciate the design and parallel structure. If you're patient with singles, you can build a sharp personal collection for less than box cost. Stick to hobby if you're box hunting, retail if you just want to rip cheaply.
